A peaty 8 year old Single Malt from a secret Islay, bottled by Ian Macleod as an introduction into malt whisky. The nose is quite smoky, there are some lovely maritime notes, the peat is quite evident though a little spirity. The palate is quite full and well-balanced. There are notes of sultanas, mixed peels, peat smoke and kelp. The oak develops with marked aridity, continuing into the finish with more smoke.
"The perfect introduction to the world of single malt whiskies, the
Macleod’s Regional Malts collection comprises a selection of single malt
Scotch whiskies, which we believe to be the most representative of
their particular region.
Bottled from stocks of some of the best known single malts, the
range takes consumers on a sensory journey through the whisky regions of
Scotland and includes a Highland, Island and Speyside.
